Check out our Starbucks Video on U-TUBE!!!!

Today was a super exciting day! My two favorite vegetables of broccoli and asparagus are combined into one to make "Brocolini". Check it out!

Finally finally I walked into a Starbucks that had a recycling bin! This has been my pet peeve for years... How can places that use so much paper and plastic not recycle? Anyways it was a great sight to see...And it was in London, ON... Awesome to be back in Canada btw. I'm surprised at how much I miss Canada sometimes. Speaking of Starbucks, here is our super awesome Starbucks video!! We made this over Christmas. Take note of the incredible acting skills and editing, hahaha

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise...

So a couple of weeks ago my aunt randomly called me up and said “I booked a plane ticket to Hawaii. I hope it’s ok if I stay with you for 2 weeks.” Hmmm, that doesn’t sound like much of a choice… But she came and everything worked out and we had a great visit, filled with all sorts of activities…We went to Maui for a few days and while there I met some super nice Brazilian girls. They were coming to Oahu for a couple of days and needed a place to stay.
“Can we stay with you?” they asked me.
“Sure….let me just check with my roommates..”
I call my roommates and my guy roommate answers “it’s ok as long as they are girls. I don’t trust guys.”
My girl roommate answers “it’s ok as long as they don’t steal stuff.”
Well, I’ve only known them a few days but determine that they are definitely girls and they don’t seem like the type of ppl who steal…
I should have taken a picture of the living room before they left this morning. The air mattress just fit in between the couch and tv and I literally had to step onto their bed to get out the door.
Last night I had given them some xtra blankets since the weather in Hawaii was a little on the cold side (compared to Brazil that is). I whipped out some more blankets for myself and lay down. My roommate walks by and starts laughing hysterically. She asks me why I am sleeping with curtains…In fact they are the curtains that she absolutely could not stand to look at for one more moment, so had gone out and bought new ones and stuffed the old ones in the closet. My first thought was “oh my God I hope they are clean!” Guess I was a little tired….
So they leave this morning and a few hours ago I get a call from my BFF. I had been a little worried about her because I hadn’t heard from her in 5 days, which is a long time for us…She drops the bombshell… I AM IN HAWAII, in WAIKIKI, a few blocks from YOUR HOUSE….Never in my life have I been soooo surprised. I’m still in shock….I can’t sleep, I’m just so excited. It’s been a crazy couple of days and weeks! I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard in my life as when she and I both got on my moped a little while ago.
She asks me: “Is this safe? Do we need helmets? Is this legal?”
“Kind of, kind of and kind of” were my answers
So with all the excitment I realize that ALL my blankets are in the laundry room which is now locked for the night...Looks like I may be sleeping with curtains again.

Well Worth The Hike...

It was well worth the 20 mile hike up to Mount Haleakala. To be above the cloud line does not happen often. Completely amazing!

Back home? Or away from home?

Transitioning is weird sometimes. I now have two homes that are extremely far away from one another. Two vastly different worlds. Two homes that so far haven't collided in any big way in the sense that they are neatly separate from one another. I am the common denomitor, and none of the people or places are remotely the same.
As the plane took off and gradually got higher, the houses, cars, and town seemed to turn into a gingerbread land. I gazed in amazement and took a moment to realize the miracle of it all. I wanted to have more time to look, just like I wanted to have a bit more time in Ottawa. But the plane glided threw the clouds and seemed to erase everything in a moment. I could no longer see my home in Ottawa and I felt as though I was in the land of nowhere caught between two worlds. Wanting to be a part of both. Both seeming like a distant memory, a dreamland of sort for the time being. I left a lot of ppl and things behind as I was reminded of over the holidays. I've certainly gained a lot in return but the transaction is still bittersweet. The connections I have in Ottawa are deep. The connections I have in Hawaii are becoming deep. I also still feel a strong connection to West Canada.
After all this, I wonder if I am a changed person? I've seen more, learned more, experienced more but I feel as though a big part of me is the same. There were a few days in Ottawa where I felt like I had my old life back. It made me miss certain aspects of it but at the same time re-enforced some of the reasons for why I left....
