We all have them or have had them at some point in our lives. Some are harmless, some are silly, some are embarrassing, some are disturbing, and some are life changing. Some are meant to never be known. Some people thrive on silence and have no problem keeping secrets. Other people thrive on telling secrets or gossiping. Gossip is not necessarily secrets but often it is. Why do some of us gossip so much and take joy in passing on other ppl's secrets? Perhaps it is the momentary sense of power. You have the person's full attention whom you are about to tell. You get to see the reaction on their face. But like anything the shock wears off and you must find another secret to tell in order to get that high. Spreading secrets can become an obsession for some. People often use secrets to feel important.
But what happens when you find out a secret accidently? A secret that is clearly not supposed to be revealed? A scary secret? A disturbing secret? It can be haunting. You want to give it back but you can't. Your perception is forever changed as you try to assimilate the new information or discovery.
